If you’re looking for a relaxing and rewarding experience, volunteering with the Portsmouth & Gosport History Group, a registered charity, might be just what you need. The group is looking to expand its research teams and collection archives, and provide interesting and new information for its online resources. If you love the feeling of discovery, enjoy researching family members and creating family trees, then this voluntary role might be perfect for you. The Trustees are wanting to expand their online resources and showcase their collection that they hold in Public Trust.
The Portsmouth & Gosport History Group has over 300 years worth of local artefacts waiting for their story to be told. You could be the one to tell that story! Over the next few weeks and months, the group will be launching a Resources Page on www.pghg.org.uk for the public to learn and view their work and collection.
Volunteers wishing to help can contribute from home or from their offices in Priddy’s Hard, Gosport. Those with interests in helping to write descriptions and photograph the collection would have to volunteer from Priddy’s Hard. Training will be provided for this role.
This is a great opportunity to be involved with history research projects and community initiatives. By volunteering with the Portsmouth & Gosport History Group, you can help preserve and promote the local history of Portsmouth and Gosport through storytelling. The group engages the public with immersive events and offers educational opportunities. Its goal is to empower the community to safeguard and share this rich heritage while fostering collaboration with similar organisations.
